Mamita Meher father urged everyone not to malign his daughter’s character

Bolangir: Father of Kalahandi School Principal Mamita Meher, Suchindra Meher broke his silence over her visit to Raipur along with the School Managing Committee President Govind Sahu and urged everyone not to malign his daughter’s character and not politicise the matter.

Mamita’s parents said she was of a good character and had never visited Raipur of Chhattisgarh State along with President Govind Sahu.

Suchindra expressed his satisfaction with the way the police is investigating the murder case. I have complete faith in the Chief Minister and hope justice will be delivered.

On Saturday, BJP had observed a bandh in Jharsuguda and Gajapati districts demanding action against the Minister of State (Home) and seeking justice for Mamita Meher.

Earlier this month, Congress had announced that it would observe Odisha Bandh on November 12 if Minister Mishra does not resign from his post. OPCC spokesperson Mohanty also said that the party has appealed to people in order to support the bandh call for the sake of dignity and protection of women in the state.

Worth mentioning, Mamita was a teacher of Sunshine English Medium School at Mahaling under the Sindhekela Police limits of the Kalahandi district. It is alleged that she was aware of his extramarital affair of Govinda, the president of the institute. Due to this, he had a grudge against her and in order to take revenge, he decided to eliminate her.

Govinda killed Mamita inside his car while they were en-route to Kegaon from Bhawanipatna on October 8. Thereafter, he burned the body using cardboard and tyres in a previously dug pit at the mini stadium and covered it the next day morning.

He was detained by the cops based on a complaint filed by Mamita’s family members. However, he had escaped from the police custody. Later, he was nabbed from Budhipadar village under Bangamunda block in Balangir.
