Kalinga TV impact: Malkangiri district administration extends helping hand to orphan sisters

Malkangiri: Kalinga TV impact has been witnessed in Malkangiri as the district administration has extended helping hand towards two orphan children from Gorelguda village Maharajpalli area in Kalimela Block.

Jyoti and Momika Podiami are the two minor daughters of Muta Podiami and Enki Podiami of Gorelguda. Less than 5 years ago, Muta and Enki of Gorelguda village suffered from typhoid and died due to lack of treatment. The untimely death of the parents left the children alone.

Following death of their parents, the two sisters struggled for these five years. They were in care of their paternal uncle Bhima Podiami. However, though they were minor girls, they were working in the farmland of others as labouers for livlihood. They were engaged in planting paddy seedlings. Jyoti had studied up to Class III but after their parents’ death she had to discontinue academic studies due to lack of money.

After knowing about the orphan girls Kalinga TV went to the village and reported the ordeal of the two sisters. After getting published, the said report drew attention of the district administration as well as Block administration. Accordingly, Malkangiri district administration has extended a helping hand.

Reportedly, both the sisters will study so that they can make their career. The Kalimela Child Protection Department has taken them and handed them over to the District Child Welfare Society.

The villagers and the intellectuals have appreciated the step while the two girls are extremely grateful.
