Jharsuguda: Police have reportedly arrested 5 persons on charge of human trafficking. As per reports, they had sold a married woman in Rajasthan for an amount of Rs 1.5 lakh. However, the victim woman has been rescued. Jharsuguda SP Bikash Chandra Das intimated about the incident in a presser on Friday.
As per reports, 23 year old Krishna Kumar of Jharsuguda had married Muskan, daughter of Ikmat Alli Khan of Sambalpur’s Sakhi Pada. They were living in a rented house in the purunabasti (old town) area of Jharsuguda.
Recently, following dispute between the wife and husband Muskan was living in the house of Kiran Sethy in Bhuliatikra area of Jharsuguda for the last few days. Later, Krishna Kumar visited house of Kiran Sethy to meet his wife where he came to know that Muskan was missing.
Krishna came to know that on last April 4, Muskan had intimated her friend Ashraf that Kiran Sethy, Hrushikesh Sethy and Danish Behera of Brajarajnagar had sold her to a man in Rajasthan for Rs 1.5 lakh. The victim woman said that the Rajasthan man asked her to keep physical relation with his son and if she would deny, he was intimidating to kill her.
After getting this information Krishna Kumar lodged an FIR in Jharsuguda Town PS. On the basis of the complaint Police arrested the three on April 9 u/s 370, 506 and 120 of IPC and were forwarded to Court.
Later, a Police team under the leadership of Jharsuguda Town PS IIC Sabitri Bal rescued the victim woman from Rampura village in Nimuch district of MP. Jharsuguda Police also arrested Manoj Prajapati (28) who claimed that he had married Muskan and the dalal Supriya alias Rajani Bai. The two have been brought to Jharsuguda on transit remand.
Further investigation of the case is underway while Police are also probing to know whether there is any other human trafficking racket active in Jharsuguda.
