Bhubaneswar: The ruling BJD on Saturday staged peaceful demonstration across Odisha protesting petrol and diesel price hikes.

Hundreds of Biju Yuva Janata Dal (BYJD) and Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BCJD) activists staged peaceful demonstrations in front of all petrol pumps across the state.

In a bid to create awareness among the people on the frequent hike in the price of petroleum products, the BYJD and BCJD activists distributed leaflets to public. Besides, they also talked to them in a bid to expose the Central Government’s failure to reduce the oil price.

The protesters alleged that the frequent increase in fuel price has been adversely affecting the common people. They also threatened to intensify their agitation until the fuel prices are reduced.

“The Biju Yuva Janata Dal (BYJD) and Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BCJD) have been staging protests against the oil price hike since long. But as they fail to have any impact on the people, we have decided now to make the people aware of all the hidden agenda of the Union government,” said BCJD president Rana Pratap Patra.

“When Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister in 2014, he called himself a ‘Naseeb Waala’ as fuel price in the international market reduced at that time. Now, though the international price is stable, he has failed in checking the fuel price. Has he lost his fortune now?” he questioned.

Their demonstration will continue till 12 PM.
