Forestfire In Similipal Reserve Of Odisha, Wildlife At Risk

Karanjia: There has been an outbreak of forestfire in Similipal nature reserve in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha said reliable reports. It has been reported that as many as 13 points of Similipal sanctuary are on fire.

Fire has been experienced in eight points of North Similipal, reports further added. The forest is burning in five points in the South, the RCCF of the Talabandha and Dukura range said on the forestfire. The forest department is trying to control the fire but has not been able to do so till now.

All efforts to contain the fire seem to go in vain as the forest fire continues to rage. The number of fires is increasing day by day. The villages in Similipal and Similipal foothills have been engulfed in smoke due to fire in different parts of Similipal Reserve Forest.

On the other hand it is worth mentioning that, wild animals are in danger due to the fire. Many valuable medicinal shrubs and trees are being burnt down due to the fire. Even though the forest department personnel were engaged to douse the fire, the fire could not be brought under control. The forest department authorities say that, the forestfires appear to be created artificially.
