Kendrapara: A fake job consultancy owner was brutally thrashed and then handed over to police in Rajkanika here on Monday. Duped job seekers took the law into their hands after the accused failed to provide them employment even after collecting huge sums of fee through his consultancy.
The accused has been identified as Nrusingha Moharana, a resident of Puri.
Reports say Nrusingha started a job consultancy at Sarvodaya Nagar and ran its branch at Gundicha Nagar in 2016. Named Ace City Travels, the consultancy collected lakhs of rupees from job seekers who registered with it to provide them overseas placements. Thousands of aspirants from Puri, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Ganjam districts who registered with Nrusingha’s consultancy till 2017 were neither given any employment opportunity nor got any call for interview.
Convinced that it was a fraudulent consultancy, the duped job seekers from Kendrapara detained Nrusingha in Rajkanika Market this morning and thrashed him soundly. Nrusingha, who sustained injuries in the incident, was later handed over to the Rajkanka Police.
