EOW Arrests Man For Rs 2 Crore Bank Fraud In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of Odisha Crime Branch today arrested a 43-year-old in connection with a bank fraud of Rs 2.02 crore.

Police today arrested the accused identified as Bijay Kumar Pradhan for the fraud. Police said that Pradhan along with three of his family members had availed vehicle loans on the basis of forged documents.

“The accused with the help of branch manager of Odisha Gramya Bank of Rasulgarh branch had availed vehicle loan. The accused however did not purchase any vehicle and misappropriated the money. We have earlier arrested four accused including the then branch manager Prasanna Kumar Jena last year,” said an EOW official.

Police said that Pradhan had availed two loans worth Rs 77.70 lakh from the branch. “ Pradhan has been forwarded to the court today,” said a police official.
