The incident has been reported from Kajjaipalli village under Sharankul police station in Nayagarh district.

The family of the girl has alleged that she has been killed for not giving a car as dowry to her in-laws. After the alleged murder of the girl, the body was left behind and the in-laws escaped.

According to the complaint, the deceased Monalisa Swain of Jiginipada was married to Tapan Kumar Pradhan of Kajjaipally village both in Nayagarh.

According to the demand, Rs.1.5 lakh cash and furniture were given during the vidai (sending off ceremony) Later, a car was demanded by the in-laws. Due to this, there were fights at various occasions.

However, from one such fight, things took an ugly turn and on Thursday, the girl was allegedly killed by her in-laws. By the time the family members of Monalisa arrived, the mother-in-law na the rest of the in-laws had escaped.
