Devotee dies after darshan of Lord Jagannath at Gundicha Temple in Puri

Puri: In a tragic incident, a devotee passed away after having darshan of Lord Jagannath and sibling deities -Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra at Gundicha temple in Odisha’s Puri town on Tuesday.

As per the reports, the devotee, identified as 82-year-old Laxmidhar Khuntia of Kakatpur in Puri district had come to worship the holy Trinity along with his family at the Gundicha temple.

Laxmidhar and his family went inside the temple and had “Sandhya Darshan” of the sibling deities on Adapa Mandap. Laxmidhar collapsed while they were on their way out of the temple. His family members rushed him to the district headquarters hospital in an unconscious state.  However, the doctor declared him dead in the hospital. The cause of death has not been ascertained.

It may be noted that another devotee had died during Snana Yatra of the deities at Jagannath temple in the town on June 4.
