Cyclone Fani: Odisha police deputes 11 senior IPS officers

Cuttack: Police DG R.P Sharma today cancelled leaves of all police personnel including IPS officers as a part of the preparation for cyclone Fani. Sharma also deputed as many as 11 senior IPS officials to 11 districts which are likely to be affected by the cyclone.

Sharma today took a review of preparedness and directed concerned officials to ensure that additional logistics and manpower are available in the police stations and districts of possible affected districts.

The police officials deputed are S.K Upadhyay (Jajpur), Pranabindu Acharya (Jagatsinghpur), Vinaytosh Mishra (Bhadrak), RP Koche (Khurda), S.K Priyadarshi (Puri), Arun Bothra (Kendrapara), Amitabh Thakur (Ganjam), Ghanshyam Upadhyay (Nayagarh), Amitendra Nath Sinha (Balasore), Nikhil Kumar Kanodia (Cuttack) and Shefeen Ahamed K (Mayurbhanj).

“The state Control Room has been geared up to remain in touch round the clock with all field units of districts likely to be affected. The SPs of those districts have been directed to make their control rooms and DIBs functional round the clock. ODRAF units have already been pre-positioned with all equipment and gadgets,” said Sharma.

Sharma has directed senior officers to proceed immediately to the likely affected districts to oversee the police arrangements and coordinate with the district administration and other connected agencies and field functionaries for rescue and relief operations.
