Cold wave in Odisha: Temperature drops below 15 degrees Celsius in 30 places

The minimum night temperature has dropped below 15 degrees Celsius in as many as 30 places of Odisha as the cold wave continues to blow over the state.

Bhubaneswar: The minimum night temperature has dropped below 15 degrees Celsius in as many as 30 places of Odisha as the cold wave continues to blow over the state. G.Udaygiri and Korei have recorded a minimum temperature of 8 degrees Celsius. Similipal National Park in Mayurbhanj district has become the coldest area of the state with temperatures falling to 1-2 degrees. The Barakamuda area has recorded the lowest temperature.

The Jashipur, Karanjia, Shukruli, Rarua, and Thakurmunda areas have witnessed dense fog along with bone-chilling cold. Due to the dense fog and cold, it has become difficult to get out of the house before 9 am. So, people are facing difficulties in carrying out normal activities like going to school, offices, or the market. Likewise, the streets are getting deserted after the evening. People are seen sitting around bonfires to get relief from the bone-biting cold.

Under the influence of the western winds, the winder colds will subside by December 20. The night temperature will rise by 2 degrees Celsius in the Southern interior areas near the Chhattisgarh border districts on December 21, and December 22.

Moreover, the Northern parts of the state will receive light rainfall from December 22 to 24. However, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that there will be no change in the weather in the next 4-5 days.
