CM Naveen Patnaik Inaugurates Drinking Water Projects In Jatni

Jatni: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday inaugurated 500 drinking water projects for 95 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) besides launching a mega water supply project for Khurda, Bhubaneswar and Jatni.

The 500 water projects were launched under the ‘Basudha’ of the State Government, which aims to extend drinking water supply to every urban household by March 2019. Completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 408 crore, the inaugurated projects will cater to the water needs of 33 lakh people in the state.

On the other hand, the mega drinking water supply project at Jatni’s Khudurpur has been built on PPP mode. It will cater to the needs of IIT, Bhubaneswar, NISER, Infocity, Industrial estate in Bhubaneswar under IDCO besides the urban populace of Khurda and Jatni.

In the inaugural speech, CM Naveen highlighted how his Government is committed to the cause of ensuring water supply to every household in the state. He also informed that the mega water project is the first ever integrated drinking water project in the country which involves water tapping system and water treatment system to supply safe drinking water to urban residents.
