Bhubaneswar: Parents shackle minor daughter, force her for begging  

Bhubaneswar: A minor girl in Bhubaneswar’s Nandankanan area made a sever allegation against her parents alleging that they shackled her and forced her for begging.

On being informed, the Nandankanan Police rescued the girl and informed the Childline members. The girl was made to beg infront of the Nandankanan Zoological Park. She was also subjected to mental and physical tortures.

Police started an investigation into the matter after filing a case under Section 75 and 76 of the Juvenile Justice Act.

As per the rules, the parents can be jailed for five years and have to pay a fine of Rs 1 lakh for forcing the 10-year-old girl for begging and torturing her.

Further investigation into the matter is underway.
