Beef seized from Bhubaneswar Railway station, 2 detained

Beef seized from Bhubaneswar Railway station on Monday morning, said reliable reports. As many as two people have been detained.

Bhubaneswar: On Monday, beef was seized from Bhubaneswar Railway station and as many as two people have been detained in this regard. According to reports, at least 40 packets of beef packed in huge cartons and gunny bags was seized from the railway station in Odisha’s capital city of Bhubaneswar.

In the early morning hours, the police got the information that a vehicle loaded with beef was on its way to the railway station.  Sources say that the vehicle was coming from Niali area of ​​Cuttack and reached the Bhubaneswar railway station parcel area.

The police team who has already got a tip off in the matter were already on guard at the station and stopped the vehicle. The driver was detained by the police immediately upon arrival. While two other accused have managed to escaped. The operation was conducted jointly by the Government Railway Police (GRP), Capital police station and the members of the Rastriya Gau Sewak Sangh (Cow vigilantism organization), said sources.

The other driver has however managed to flee from the spot, said latest reports in this regard. The parcels were reportedly being transported to Secunderabad in Telangana from Niali in Cuttack, Pipili in Puri, Nimapada in Puri and Khurda district in Odisha.

Immediately the movement of cattle for meat purposes or beef from the state of Odisha should be stopped, action should be taken in this regard at the earliest, said the members of the Rastriya Gau Sewak Sangh. The members of the Rastriya Gau Sewak Sangh have further requested the Minister of Railways to intervene in this regard.

The Capital police has reached the spot and is investigating further into the matter. The vehicle has been seized and the detained driver is being questioned by the police, said reliable sources. A detailed report is awaited in this regard.
