Woman dies after being attacked by mentally-ill son for calling him mad in Gurugram
Gurugram: A woman died after allegedly being attacked by her mentally-ill son for calling him mad in Gurugram. Reportedly, the 27-year-old man stabbed his mother to death and set their Gurugram flat on fire.
According to reports, the deceased, identified as Ranu Shah lived with her husband and son at Vipul Greens, a posh apartment complex in Sector 48 of Gurugram. Meanwhile, her son identified as Atrish was undergoing treatment for mental illness for a long time. Reportedly, he has frequent altercations with his parents and neighbours.
As per reports, the neighbours saw their flat was on fire on Sunday night. They immediately informed fire service personnel and police about the incident.
After receiving information about the incident, fire service personnel and police immediately rushed to the spot. They broke open the door and rescued Ranu Shah with severe burn injuries. She was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital, where she succumbed to injuries.
Following the incident, a preliminary investigation revealed that Atrish often used to get agitated and attack his mother. Reportedly, during an altercation on Sunday, the woman called him mad. This triggered the accused and he repeatedly stabbed his mother. He then set their home on fire. Meanwhile, the deceased’s husband was away from their place when the incident occurred.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
