Raipur: The electoral fervor is in full swing as voting has begun for the first phase of Assembly elections in Chhattisgarh.

In Chhattisgarh, the focus of attention lies on the 20 constituencies that are going to the polls today. Many of these constituencies are located in Naxal-affected regions. A formidable force of 60,000 security personnel, including 40,000 from the Central Armed Police Forces, has been deployed to ensure the smooth and secure conduct of polls in the 12 constituencies situated in the Naxal-hit Bastar division.

On the other hand, polling has officially begun for the assembly elections in the state of Mizoram. This crucial election will see voters cast their ballots for all 40 assembly sears in a single phase today, with polling commencing at 7 am and scheduled to conclude at 4 pm.

The election holds immense importance as more than 8.75 lakh electorates, including 4 lakh 30 thousand 26 women, will determine the fate of 174 candidates vying for these seats.

Out of the 1,276 voting centers in the state, 149 are designated as remote polling stations, ensuring that even the most geographically isolated areas have access to the voting process. Notably, around 30 polling stations located along the inter-state and international borders have been identified as critical and vulnerable, requiring heightened security measures.

To ensure a secure and peaceful election process, at least 3,000 policemen and 5,400 personnel from the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) have been deployed.
