Uttarakhand Tunnel Collapse: PM Modi calls CM Pushkar, enquires about ongoing rescue operations

Amid ongoing mission to rescue 41 trapped workers in the tunnel PM Modi called up Uttarakhand PM and enquired about the tunnel rescue efforts

New-Delhi: Amid ongoing mission to rescue 41 trapped workers in the tunnel that collapsed at the Silkyara tunnel of Uttarkashi on November 12. PM Narendra Modi called up Uttarakhand PM and enquired about the Uttarkashi tunnel rescue efforts. He also seeked information about provision of food and medicines to the trapped workers.

In his social media post on X, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami reported that he received a call from PM Modi who enquired about the Uttarkashi tunnel rescue efforts. He also seeked information about provision of food and medicines to the trapped workers at Silkyara tunnel in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi.

Director of National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL), Anshu Manish Khulko said, “The location for vertical drilling has been identified. Road work for vertical drilling on the hill above the tunnel is almost complete. More than 350 meters of road construction work is complete. BRO is building a road from both Silkyara and Barkot sides which is almost complete.

Nigel, Head of Safety, L&T, says, “The current situation is that they are drilling a way…This is going very well…Hopefully, they are going to break through… It looks like it is going to happen… For us, we are providing guidance and support in terms of what they are doing… We are also assisting with the micro-tunneling as well… The job has to be done correctly and in a systematic way.”
