Strong tremors felt in Northern India after 6.4 magnitude earthquake hits Nepal

The tremors of Nepal earthquake were strongly felt in several northern Indian states, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar.

New Delhi: In a devastating seismic event, a powerful 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck a remote region of Nepal late Friday, resulting in the loss of at least 128 lives, with the death toll expected to rise. The tremors were strongly felt in several northern Indian states, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar, leading to residents fleeing their homes in fear.

The earthquake, which lasted for over a minute, sent shockwaves through the region, leaving residents shaken and in panic. People in high-rise buildings rushed to the streets seeking safety.

Narrating her experience to the media, Arti, a resident of Delhi, shared, “I was lying on the bed, and the bed started shaking. I called my sister, who was sleeping next to me… When we went to the balcony, there was a lot of noise coming from outside.” Meanwhile, Tushar, a resident of Noida, described feeling suddenly dizzy while watching TV and then rushed out of his home upon realizing it was an earthquake.

This recent earthquake is part of a series of seismic activities that have rattled the Delhi-NCR region in recent times. The tremors were also felt in areas such as Patna, Katihar, Motihari, and several other districts in Bihar along the Indo-Nepal border.

No damages were reported in India. Further detailed reports are awaited.
