Special Parliament session: Staff to get new dress code

Bureaucrats bandhgala suit will be replaced with a magenta or deep pink Nehru jacket. Shirts in deep pink color with a lotus flower design

New-Delhi: The Parliament staff are all set to don their new uniforms as they move to the new Parliament building next week for the special session.

The uniform will have an ‘Indian’ touch as it includes ‘Nehru jackets’ and khaki-colored pants.

The staff will shift to the new building on September 19 on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi following a small pooja.

The Chamber attendants, officers, security personnel, drivers and marshals will all be seen in new uniforms during the special session of Parliament beginning September 18.

The outfit has been designed by the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT).

The bureaucrats’ bandhgala suit will be replaced with a magenta or deep pink Nehru jacket. Their shirts will also be in a deep pink color with a lotus flower design. The employees will don khaki-colored pants.

The dress of the marshals in both houses has also been changed. They will wear Manipuri turbans. The attire of the security personnel at the Parliament building will also be changed. Instead of safari suits, they will be given camouflage dresses, similar to the military.

The female staff will be seen in saree uniforms as earlier they use to wear.

The special session of Parliament, from September 18 to 22, was announced on August 31 by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi.
