Shoe thrown at Samajwadi Party leader Swami Prasad Maurya in Lucknow

Lucknow: A young man dressed as an advocate threw a shoe at Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Swami Prasad Maurya at a party event in Lucknow on Monday.

The shoe slipped the target and the youth, Akash Saini. He was immediately overpowered by the supporters of the SP leader and thrashed before he was handed over to the police.

He was taken into custody by the Vibhuti Khand police.

The incident took place at the SP’s one-day ‘mahasammelan’ at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan.
