Shiv Sena factions clash: Police register rioting, unlawful assembly FIR against 50 people

Mumbai police has registered a case against 50 people for unlawful assembly after a clash between two factions of Shiv Sena workers.

Mumbai: In a recent incident that took place on Friday, the Mumbai police registered a case against about 50 people for rioting and unlawful assembly. This came after a clash between two factions of Shiv Sena workers, led by CM Eknath Shinde and Uddhav Thackeray.

The clash between the two groups took place near the Shivaji Park in Central Mumbai during the late night hours of Thursday. Reportedly, members of both the factions had gathered at the spot to pay tribute to Bal Thackeray on his 11th death anniversary. It was after Eknath Shinde left after paying homage that the clash erupted.

The police initially focused on controlling and dispersing the crowd after. According to reports from reliable sources, they were successful in managing the situation on Thursday night. However, after reviewing the CCTV footage, they decided to file a case against 50-60 unidentified individuals.

A senior police officer even stated that their prime focus is now on uncovering the identities of the suspects. Following which, teams will be sent to arrest them.
