SC directs HCs for speedy disposal of criminal cases against MPs and MLAs
Supreme Court issued directions to the high courts for the speedy disposal of criminal cases against Members of Parliament and Members of Legislative Assembly
New-Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday issued directions to the high courts for the speedy disposal of criminal cases against Members of Parliament and Members of Legislative Assembly.
The SC said that it would be difficult for it to form a uniform guideline for trial courts relating to speedy disposal of cases against MP/MLAs. It also asked high courts to set up a special bench to monitor criminal trials against lawmakers.
Further, the top court has asked High Courts to register a suo motu cases for effective monitoring and disposal of cases involving MPs/MLAs.
