Sanjay Mukherjee appointed as new DGP of West-Bengal

Kolkata: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has appointed IPS officer Sanjay Mukherjee as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of West-Bengal.

The 1989-batch IPS officer was the second person on the list of the three officers recommended by the West Bengal government for the post of DGP to the EC.

Earlier, the EC had removed state DGP Rajeev Kumar and appointed IPS officer Vivek Sahay as the next DGP.

Sanjay Mukherjee’s father, Arun Prasad, a former state director general of police and also former director of CBI. He was appointed as the governor to Mizoram in 1998.
