Passenger onboard Mumbai-Ranchi IndiGo flight dies after vomiting blood

The passenger, Mr. Tiwari, experienced a critical health issue during the flight, where he started vomiting blood.

Mumbai: An unexpected medical emergency on a Mumbai to Ranchi IndiGo flight forced the aircraft to land at Nagpur’s Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport. Tragically, a 62-year-old male passenger named D Tiwari, who was suffering from chronic kidney disease (CKD) and tuberculosis, didn’t survive and was declared dead at a government medical college.

The passenger, Mr. Tiwari, experienced a critical health issue during the flight, where he started vomiting blood. This alarming situation prompted the pilot in command to make a swift decision to land in Nagpur.

Upon landing, Mr. Tiwari was quickly taken to KIMS Hospital in Nagpur. Aejaz Shami, DGM of Branding and Communications at KIMS Hospital, confirmed that Mr. Tiwari was already deceased upon arrival at the hospital. His body was subsequently moved to Government Medical College and Hospital for further procedures.

IndiGo Airlines, in a statement, explained, “IndiGo flight 6E 5093, traveling from Mumbai to Ranchi, was diverted to Nagpur due to a medical emergency on board. The passenger was removed from the flight and rushed to the hospital for further medical assistance. Unfortunately, the passenger did not survive. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and loved ones.”
