Namibian Cheetah Aasha gives birth to 3 cubs in Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh

One of the translocated Namibian cheetah ‘Aasha’ has given birth to three cubs in Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh.

Bhopal: One of the translocated Namibian cheetah ‘Aasha’ has given birth to three cubs in Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh. Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav who took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and posted a heart-warming video of the newly-born cubs.

The video shared by the Union Minister was accompanied by a caption that read, “Purrs in the wild! Thrilled to share that Kuno National Park has welcomed three new members. The cubs have been born to Namibian Cheetah Aasha.”

Bhupender Yadav also congratulated all the experts and officials involved in the project. “My big congrats to all experts involved in the project, the Kuno wildlife officials, and wildlife enthusiasts across India,” the Union Minister said in the post.

Earlier in March 2023, another cheetah who was translocated from Namibia, named Jwala, also gave birth to four cubs. However, only one among them survived.

On September 17, 2022, India received 20 cheetahs from South Africa and Namibia. So far, 14 cheetah and a female cub have survived in the Kuno National Park.
