Merchant vessel with 20 Indians on-board that was attacked by a suspected drone, reached Mumbai

The ship reached Mumbai and anchored safely at the Outer Anchorage off Mumbai on 25 December

Mumbai: The merchant vessel with Indians on-board, which was reportedly attacked by a suspected drone on 23 December, reached Mumbai today. It was informed in a X post on Monday by ANI.

As per reports, the merchant ship named MV Chem Pluto, carrying 21 Indians and 1 Vietnamese crew, which was reportedly attacked by a suspected drone on 23 December, reached Mumbai and anchored safely at Outer Anchorage off Mumbai on 25 December.

On arrival, the Indian Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal team inspected the vessel to make a preliminary assessment of the type and nature of the attack, Indian Navy said in a statement.

It is to be noted that the said merchant vessel was in the Arabian Sea 217 nautical miles off Porbandar cost on December 23 when it reported a fire incident that is suspected to be caused by a drone attack.

The vessel has crude oil and was coming towards Mangalore from a port in Saudi Arabia.
