Reportedly, the United National Liberation Front (UNLF) signed a peace agreement in New Delhi that has been seen as a significant milestone in the relentless pursuit of permanent peace in the Northeast.
New Delhi: Manipur’s oldest armed group UNLF (United National Liberation Front) has reportedly signed a peace agreement. Accordingly the group has ‘chosen the path of peace, renouncing violence to join the mainstream and embrace democracy’. Manipur CM N Biren Singh shared this information in a X post on Wednesday, reported ANI.
Reportedly, the United National Liberation Front (UNLF) signed a peace agreement in New Delhi. It has been seen as a significant milestone in the relentless pursuit of permanent peace in the Northeast.
“The unwavering support and vision of PM Narendra Modi for a brighter and peaceful North-East has made this possible. May this collaborative effort contribute to a harmonious and prosperous future for Manipur and the entire region,” the Manipur CM reportedly wrote in the tweet, says the ANI tweet.
The peace agreement signed today with the UNLF by the Government of India and the Government of Manipur marks the end of a six-decade-long armed movement.
