Manipur couple beaten and kicked by group of people in Delhi; FIR lodged

A Manipur couple along with another man and woman were brutally attacked by a group individuals in Delhi's Sunlight Colony on Thursday night.

New Delhi: A Manipur couple along with a family friend and the man’s sister were brutally assaulted by a group of eight-nine individuals in southeast Delhi’s Sunlight Colony on Thursday night. The incident, which was captured on a mobile phone from a nearby balcony, has since gone viral on social media.

The victims, including a man, his wife, his sister, and a family friend, were reportedly attacked while helping two men and a woman who claimed to have a dead mobile battery and sought assistance in booking a cab to Munirka in south Delhi.

According to reports, the situation turned ugly when the individuals making the request began making lewd comments directed at the man’s wife and sister.

Upon objecting to the inappropriate behavior, the situation turned aggressive, with the group calling in reinforcements, eventually leading to a violent assault. The mobile footage vividly depicts the victims being punched, kicked, and dragged on the narrow street.

The victims recounted the traumatic experience, with the wife sharing that she feared for their lives as the assault continued relentlessly. The miscreants reportedly pulled her hair, kicked her to the ground, and attempted to drag her, leaving visible bruises on her knees. The injured victims were immediately rushed to the hospital.

Following the incident, a FIR has lodged against several unknown accused. While speaking to the media, the complainant, revealed that the faces of the two of the accused were clearly captured on the CCTV footage.

Further investigation is underway and more details are awaited.
