Man turns Good Samaritan for trader, steals Rs 2L valuables

An elderly man turned Good Samaritan for a trader who was injured following an accident to steal valuables worth around Rs 2L from him.

Rajkot: An elderly man turned Good Samaritan for a trader who was injured following an accident to steal valuables worth around Rs 2L from him.

Ashok Sabhadiya, a retailer of plastic items, of Ahmedabad was reportedly driving on the Rajkot-Ahmedabad highway on the Diwali day (November 12). However, when he had reached near Chotila town his car rammed into a truck.

After finding Sabhadiya injured, some locals gathered at the spot and called the 108 emergency ambulance. An elderly man accompanied him to the Chotila-based government hospital for his treatment.

Later, the unidentified man shifted Sabhadiya to a private hospital in Rajkot for his further treatment. After getting help from the unidentified man, Sabhadiya assumed him to be a Good Samaritan and handed him over a bag with valuables to the tune of Rs 1.80 lakh, which included gold biscuits, a laptop, cash, two debit cards and an Aadhar card and requested him to take care of it. However, the man fled the hospital with the bag.

The matter came to the light after Sabhadiya lodged a complaint on Friday after recovering from his injuries.

Based on his complaint, police started an investigation into the matter. Cops are verifying the CCTVs of the hospital and the highway where the accident occurred to identify the thief and nab him.
