Liver, Kidneys from 15-year-old daughter of Indian Army Soldier harvested

New Delhi: The liver and Kidneys from a brain-dead 15-year-old girl, who was the daughter of an Indian Army Soldier were reportedly harvested successfully.

The transplant team of Command Hospital, Chandimandir in Haryana harvested the Liver and Kidneys of the girl.

Later, the harvested organs were flown by IAF to R&R Hospital, Delhi and successfully implanted to two needy patients. The said critical patients got new lease of lives due to this organ donation.

The Additional Directorate General of Public Information, Ministry of Defence shared the information on X platform and wrote, “A miraculous midnight surgical endeavour performed by the Transplant team of Command Hospital #Chandimandir, by harvesting Liver and Kidneys from a brain dead 15 year old daughter of #IndianArmy Soldier.

The harvested organs were flown by #IAF to R&R Hospital, Delhi and successfully implanted providing new lease of life to critical patients.

This Noble initiative of organ donation by the soldier in his hour of grief, bringing new hopes in others lives is highly commendable.”
