In the wake of the alarming Covid 19 situation in the country, India’s top doctors on Wednesday addressed key issues to ease fear among citizens.

Dr Guleria, AIIMS, Dr Shetty, Narayana Health and Dr Trehan, Medanta addressed issues related to COVID 19. The doctors talked about the symptoms of Covid 19, precautions that can be taken if tested positive, quarantine guidelines and use of oxygen etc.

The tips by the three top doctors are as follows;

Dr Devi Shetty

In case you found positive for Covid, do not panic, see a doctor and get his opinion. You need to get medical help at an early stage and follow doctor’s instructions.

You may be asymptomatic; then, doctors will ask you to stay at home, isolate yourself, wear a mask and check your oxygen saturation every six hours.

If your oxygen saturation is above 94 per cent then there is nothing to worry. But if it is falling after exercise, then you need to see a doctor.

Dr Naresh Trehan

All the sick people do not require hospitalisation The hospital beds should be utilised judiciously and with responsibility and it depends on us.

Remdesivir is to be given not to everyone who tests Covid 19 positive. Rather only after doctors look at the test results, symptoms and comorbidities of a patient, then can prescribe. Remdesivir decreases viral load in people who need it.

We have enough oxygen if we try to use it judiciously. If you don’t need oxygen then don’t use it as a security measure. Waste of oxygen will only lead to depriving a person who really needs it.

Dr Randeep Guleria

In Covid 19, Remdesivir is not a magic bullet.

If we will use oxygen and Remdesivir judiciously, then there not be any shortage.

The vaccine prevents you from getting the disease in the form of severe illness. It may not prevent you from getting the infection. Wear a mask even after vaccination.
