Ambala (Haryana): Haryana government sealed Punjab-Haryana (Shambhu) border in Ambala ahead of the farmers’ march to Delhi on February 10. Border Security Force and Rapid Action Force personnel deployed on the border.
Bulk SMS and all dongle services provided on mobile networks, except voice calls, were suspended. Meanwhile, security tightened near Tikri Border and Singhu border in Delhi ahead of the farmer’s march, which will be held on February 13.
“Due to the farmers’ movement, we have sealed the Shambhu border…When they (farmers) come here, we will request them not to go beyond this because they do not have permission for it. We want them to end the movement peacefully…,” said DCP Arshdeep Singh.
A huge concrete wall was erected on the highway at Shambhu border in Ambala.
Authorities have also placed barricades to close the Punjab-Haryana borders in Jind and Fatehabad districts.
Haryana Police have released a traffic advisory, suggesting people to restrict their travel on the main roads of the state to only essential reasons on February 13 due to possible traffic disturbances on key routes from Haryana to Punjab.
Over 200 farmers’ unions will march to the national capital on February 13 to press the Centre for accepting their demands, including enactment of a law to guarantee a minimum support price (MSP) for crops.
