Four Naxals killed in Bijapur gunfight with security forces in Chhattisgarh

Chhatisgarh: Atleast four naxals were killed during a clash with security forces in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh on Tuesday.

The gunfight took place in the forest area of Korcholi in the Gangalur police jurisdiction.

The security forces have initiated a major operation against the Naxals across all seven districts of the Bastar region. A joint operation is underway involving the Bastar Fighters Cobra Battalion and the CRPF. Till now, there has been exchange of gunfire from both the sides and the casualties could rise.

According to sources, the encounter has resulted in the death of four Maoists and several automatic weapons have also been recovered. The encounter has been confirmed by Bijapur SP Jitendra Kumar Yadav.
