Kannur: A massive fire broke out at Alappuzha-Kannur Executive Express train at Kannur railway station on Thursday morning. No casualties were reported.
The incident took place at around 1.25 am on Thursday morning while the train was on a halt at the railway station.
On receiving information, station master and other officials on duty arrived at the site and extinguished fire at around 2.20 am. The coach was completely gutted.
Meanwhile, the police searched the CCTV footage of the Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and saw an unidentified person entering the train, following which the fire incident took place.
On April 2, an appalling train arson incident in Kozhikode district killed three people, including a baby. The case was registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, the Railway Act and the Explosive Substances Act.
