Covid cases resurface in Karnataka, Government urges people to wear masks

Covid in Karnataka seems to have resurfaced after several people in neighbouring Kerala have been infected, govt urges people to use masks.

Bengaluru: Covid in Karnataka seems to have resurfaced after several people in neighbouring Kerala have been infected. The new cases are that of new JN.1 variant.

The Karnataka health department has urged senior citizens to use masks in public places without fail. The government has further ordered mock drills to be conducted at all government hospitals.

This has been done to ensure the preparedness of the medical infrastructure in case of an emergency of Covid. The movement of people from Kerala to Karnataka is being monitored.

Reports further say that, three lakh medical kits and kits for rapid antigen tests (RAT) have been ordered for the border districts to check Covid in Karnataka.

Senior officials have held meetings tackle the situation. It is worth mentioning here that, there are more than 20 entry points other than the highway that needs to be checked. However decision is yet to be made on the restrictions of entry of people from Kerala to Karnataka.
