436 live turtles recovered from bus passenger in Varanasi

New Delhi: As many as 436 live turtles were recovered from a person who was travelling in a bus in Varanasi on Monday. These are repotedly Tent Turtles that are protected under Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972. ANI informed about this in a X post on Monday.

As per reports, a team of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Lucknow intercepted a person on Monday who was travelling in a bus rom Kanpur to Varanasi. He had illegal possession of Indian Tent Turtles, scientifically known as Pangshura Tentoria. These turtles are protected under the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972.

As many as 436 live turtles were seized from the person and handed over to the Forest officials. The person who was carrying the turtles has been detained.
