3 killed, 17 missing in Uttarakhand’s Gaurikund landslide
Three dead and seventeen missing after devastating landslide struck in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand.
Uttarakhand: At least three people are dead and seventeen are missing after a devastating landslide struck in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, officials confirmed on Saturday.
The disaster occurred approximately 16 km before Kedarnath in Gaurikund.
As per information received from the District Administration, Rudraprayag, two roadside shops and dhabas were swept away in the powerful debris cascading from the mountainside. At the time of the landslide, four local people and sixteen individuals of Nepali origin were present in these establishments.
The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has initiated a comprehensive search operation at the affected location to locate and rescue the missing individuals.
