This traveler’s experience has raised brows as the entire country’s hospitality is being judged based on this one incident. This tourist says that he was charged 2 Euros (Rs 182) for asking to cut a sandwich into two halves.

This incident took place at a restaurant named ‘Bar Pace’ in Lake Como. For Proof, the tourist even attached the bill of his order. Surprisingly, the bill mentioned a charge of Rs 182 for cutting the sandwich into halves; “diviso da meta,” as written in Italian.

The tourist uploaded a picture of the receipt at Tripadvisor. Expressing his disbelief over the incident, he wrote, “We have to pay because the toast was cut in half?” He also gave a one-star rating to the restaurant.

The owner of the café, Cristina Biachhi, responded to this incident. She defended the charges by saying that this was an additional service. As per her, the sandwich had French fries in it which took a significant deal of time to cut. Further she added that the sandwich was served in two separate plates. She even mentioned that if this complaint would have been raised at that time, the charge would have been removed from the bill.
