Heart attack and heart stroke difference, precaution and care

There are many points common between Heart attacks and heart strokes though there are certainly a few major differences. In a case of heart attack, the blood supply to the heart is abruptly blocked. On the other hand, a stroke occurs because of a sudden interruption of blood flow in to the brain. Of course, both the cases needs immediate medical attention and in absence of timely treatment the patient can succumb.

Another difference is that the symptoms of heart stroke and heart attack differ. In case of a heart stroke the patient experiences a sudden and heavy headache. A stroke has also been referred as a brain attack.  However, on the other hand, a heart attack often occurs with chest pain.

May it be stroke or heart attack in both the conditions, urgent medical attention is required to minimize the harm to either the brain or the heart.

When it comes to prevention, there are many similar strategy adopting which both heart stroke and heart attack can be kept at a distance. Here are a few important points to prevent heart attack or stroke.

We don’t have control on our age and family health history. However, we can live a healthy lifestyle which may help us reduce the chances of a heart attack or stroke.

Keep your cholesterol and blood pressure levels, avoiding smoking, maintaining a healthy weight, limiting your alcohol intake, keeping your blood sugar under control, regular exercising and eating a diet that’s low in saturated fats, added sugars, and sodium.
