7th Pay Commission: Central govt employees can get up to Rs 30,000 apart from salary, know how

The central government provides many types of benefits for it employees apart from the salary. Every year their salary also increases in the form of dearness allowance, and they also get promotion and other allowances benefit. Now, the central government has increased the incentive amount up to 5 times for the employees who have achieved higher degrees while pursuing their job. The incentive amount has been increased from Rs 10,000 to Rs 30,000 for the employees who have acquired higher degree like Ph.D.

Incentive will be increased by 5 times

The Ministry of Personnel has amended the 20-year-old rules to hike the incentive amount up to 5 times for employees who have achieved higher degrees while pursuing their job. The incentive amount for the employees who have acquired higher degree like Ph.D has been increased from Rs 10,000 to Rs 30,000.

What was the old rule?

As per the old rules, employees who achieved higher degrees during the job were given a lump sum incentive of Rs 2000 to Rs 10,000. Now, an order issued by the Personnel Ministry stated that the incentive amount has been decided to increase to a minimum of Rs 10,000 to a maximum of Rs 30,000.

Which degree benefits how much?

According to the circular of the Ministry of Personnel, Rs 10,000 will be given as incentive for obtaining a degree or diploma of 3 years or less. At the same time, Rs 15000 rupees will be given for getting a degree or diploma of more than 3 years.

Who will get 30000 rupees?

The employees who obtain a postgraduate degree/diploma of 1 year or less will be given Rs 20,000. At the same time, employees taking postgraduate degree / diploma of more than 1 year will get Rs 25,000. A amount of Rs 30,000 will be given to those who have acquired PhD or its equivalent qualification.

However, note that the instructions issued by the Ministry of Personnel has clarified that no incentive will be given for obtaining pure academic education or higher qualification in literary subjects. The degree/diploma acquired by the employee should be related to the post of the employee or related to the work to be done in his next post. It states that there should be a direct relationship between competency and work. These changes have been effective from the year 2019.
