7th Pay Commission: Central Government employees might get a pay hike very soon

If you are a central government employee, there are ample chances that you will get a pay hike in the recent future. The Dearness Allowance or DA of the central government employees is expected to increase in the month of July 2022 under the 7th Pay Commission. However, the Central government is yet to release and update about the pay hike of its employees.

According to various reports by media, there is ample possibility of Central government announcing a hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) under 7th Pay Commission by May 31, 2022. For those who are unknown, the dearness allowance is the amount of money that is added to the basic pay or pension of a person in order to manage with the rising prices and other costs.

Multiple reports suggest that a rise of 4 percent in the DA of the central government employees. Presently, the DA of the employees stands at 34 percent. However, after the hike the DA will increase to 38 percent. This means that there will be a pay hike which will range between Rs 8,000 to Rs 27,000 (depending on the basic salaries).

The revision of DA is done based on All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI). For your reference the AICPI points stood at 125.4 in December 2021.  However, in January of this year (2022) it dropped by 0.3 points to 125.1. As of March 2022 the AICPI points were 126.
