The significance of temple bells is both religious and scientific. The tradition of having bells at the entrance of every Hindu temple exists since ancient times. But why do people ring the bell every time they enter a temple?

According to religious beliefs, the sound of the bells awakens the dormant spirit of the God residing within the statue in the sanctum sanctorum of the shrine. According to mythological prescription it also cleanses the sins of the person who rings it.

But there are also some scientific reasons to it.
