A deepfake video featuring popular actress Rashmika Mandanna has recently gone viral, garnering over 2.4 million views on various social media platforms. The video, which initially appeared authentic, fooled viewers by seamlessly altering and manipulating the actress’s likeness using deepfake technology.

Deepfake technology, a product of the constantly evolving field of artificial intelligence, enables individuals to not only modify their voices to mimic others but also manipulate videos to make them appear genuinely convincing. Unfortunately, the latest victim of this technology is Rashmika Mandanna, a well-known figure in the entertainment industry.

The viral video portrays what seems to be Rashmika Mandanna entering an elevator, creating an illusion of authenticity. However, upon closer examination, it becomes evident that the video is a product of deepfake manipulation. The video’s quality is so convincing that it has attracted millions of views, with over 2.4 million views on the social media platforms X (formerly known as Twitter).

Abhishek Kumar, a journalist, shared the deepfake video on X, raising concerns about the necessity for new legal and regulatory measures to combat the proliferation of fraudulent content on the internet.

It’s worth noting that the initial video was originally posted on Instagram on October 8, featuring a woman named Zara Patel. There is no concrete evidence to suggest that Patel was involved in the creation of the deepfake video. The identity and motivations of the creator of this fraudulent content remain a mystery. Unfortunately, this incident is not an isolated one, as various celebrities from diverse fields have fallen victim to similar deepfake videos in recent years.

Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan also shared the video, emphasizing the pressing need for legal actions and regulations to address the growing threat of deepfake technology.
