Elections 2019: Polling official dies on duty in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: A polling official passed away while on duty in Dhenkanal district of Odisha on Tuesday, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Surendra Kumar said.

Briefing media persons here, Kumar said, Nabakishore Nayak collapsed inside booth number 41 in Kantapal village under the Parjang Assembly segment of Dhenkanal Lok Sabha constituency.

He was declared dead by doctors at Kamakhyanagar hospital, he added.

The CEO expressed his condolences over the death of Nayak saying the Commission will soon provide ex-gratia to the next of kin of the deceased official.

In the third phase of elections, polling is being held for Bhubaneswar, Puri, Cuttack, Sambalpur, Keonjhar and Dhenkanal Lok Sabha constituencies and 42 Assembly segments in the state.
