Stock market update: Nifty above 21,700,Sensex drops 100 pts in first session of New Year
By 10,13 am, the Sensex has dropped 128 points to trade at 72,111.47 while the Nifty dropped 26.60 points at 21,704.80 today.
New Delhi: The domestic equity benchmarks Nifty50 and Sensex started the new year with marginal losses on Monday that is January 1, 2024. In the first session of the New Year, the BSE Sensex opened 47.90 percent or 0.066 per cent at 72,192.36 while the Nifty was down 3.65 points or 0.017 per cent at 21,727.75.
By 10,13 am, the Sensex dropped to 72,111.47 with fall of 128.79 points or 0.18 per cent while the Nifty dropped 26.60 points or 0.12 per cent to trade at 21,704.80 today.
At 11.01 am, the Sensex was at 72,202.46 with 37.80 lower or 0.053 per cent loss. While Nifty was trading at 21,739.65 with a gain of 8.25 points or 0.038 per cent.
BSE Midcap and smallcap indices up 0.5 percent each. The major gainers on the Nifty were Coal India, Adani Enterprises, Tata Motors, Adani Ports, and Grasim Industries. M&M, Eicher Motors, LTIMindtree, Bharti Airtel, and HUL were among the major losers.
