Toyota Urban Cruiser scores four stars in the latest Global NCAP crash test

The Toyota Urban Cruiser has achieved 4-star adult occupancy safety rating in the latest crash test by Global NCAP. The Urban Cruiser SUV that is based on the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza has proved to be safe in the test. The other Indian cars that have gone through the Global NCAP test this month were the Hyundai i20 and Hyundai Creta.

Toyota Urban Cruiser

The Toyota Urban Cruiser gets a 4-star as per adult safety rating. The Urban Cruiser scores 13.52 points out of 17. On the other hand, the SUV scores 3 stars for the child safety rating. The points scored by the car in terms of child safety rating are 36.68 out of 49. The total scores of the car are 50.20 out of 66.

Hyundai i20

Hyundai i20 is perhaps one of the most premium hatchback cars that can be seen on the Indian roads. The Hyundai i20 scores 3 stars as per adult safety rating. This means that the car scores 8.84 out of 17 points. On the other hand, the hatchback scores 3 stars for child safety rating. The point scored by the car in terms of child safety rating is 36.89 out of 49. The total scores of the car are 45.73 out of 66.

Hyundai Creta

Creta is quite popular among Indian SUV buyers. The SUV scores 3 stars as per adult safety rating. This means that the car scores 8.00 out of 17 points. On the other hand, the SUV scores 3 stars for the child safety rating. The points scored by the car in terms of child safety rating are 28.29 out of 49. The total scores of the car are 36.29 out of 66.

The Global New Car Assessment Programme (Global NCAP) has performed crash tests on more than 30 made-in-India cars and has found some amazing results. Only five cars in India have managed to score a 5-star as per adult safety rating to date. While three cars out of the five are manufactured by Tata, the other two cars are manufactured by Mahindra. The Mahindra XUV700 and Mahindra300 get 5-star ratings while the Tata Punch, Tata Altroz, and Tata Nexon get 5-star ratings in terms of Adult safety.

(Note: The car models that are tested in the crash test by the global NCAP are basic models. The models have 2 frontal airbags and ABS).
