Buying a car is a dream for every middle-class person in India. The first car that a person owns is quite memorable to him in numerous ways. Meanwhile, at the time of purchasing a car, there is always a budget constraint on the buyers’ end. We have listed down a few cars that cost less than Rs 5 lakh and can be your first car.

As the car prices are constantly on the rise in India, a handful number of cars come under Rs 5 lakh budget. Below, we have listed some budget-friendly cars for your convenience.

Maruti Suzuki Alto 800

The Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 can be considered a legendary hatchback which is proudly owned by lakhs of Indians. The entry-level hatchback provides good mileage, and comfort and is easy on the pocket too. The Alto 800 is available in petrol and CNG engine options. The price of the car starts from Rs 3.39 lakh and goes up to Rs 5.03 lakh.

Both the CNG and petrol variants get a 796cc engine. The petrol engine variant is available in only manual transmission. While the petrol variant offers 22.05kmpl fuel efficiency the CNG variant offers 31.59 km/kg fuel efficiency. The petrol engine offers 47.33 bhp of maximum power and 69Nm of maximum torque. On the other hand, the CNG engine offers 40.36 bhp of maximum power and 60Nm of maximum torque.

Maruti Suzuki S-Presso

The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso is also a good option for those who have a budget under Rs 5 lakh. The price of the car starts from Rs 4.00 lakh and goes up to Rs 5.64 lakh.

Both the CNG and petrol variants get a 998cc engine. The petrol engine variant is available in manual as well as automatic transmission. While the petrol variant offers 21.4kmpl fuel efficiency the CNG variant offers 31.2 km/kg fuel efficiency. The petrol engine offers 67.05bhp of maximum power and 90Nm of maximum torque. On the other hand, the CNG engine offers 58.33bhp of maximum power and 78Nm of maximum torque.

Renault Kwid

The hatchback is priced between Rs 4.50 lakh and Rs 5.83 lakh. Kwid gets two petrol engines- 799cc and 999cc. Buyers also get option for Manual and Automatic engine versions too.

The 799cc engine offers 53.26bhp of maximum power while the peak torque is 72Nm. The ARAI mileage is 22.25 kmpl. On the other hand, the 999cc engine offers 67.06bhp of maximum power while the peak torque is 91Nm.

Hyundai Santro

The Hyundai Santro is priced between Rs 4.87 lakh and Rs 6.38 lakh, the hatch back is available in petrol and CNG engine variants. The 1086cc petrol engine offers 20.3kmpl mileage while the CNG engine provides a mileage of 30.48 km/kg. The Santro gets option for manual as well as automatic variant.

The CNG variant churns out a power of 59.17 bhp while the torque is 85.3Nm. On the other hand, the petrol engine offers 68.05 bhp max power and 99Nm max torque.

Maruti Suzuki Eeco

The Maruti Suzuki Eeco can be a good option for those who run a small business and are looking for a car/van which can fit in some cargo during day to day activities. The van is offered in Petrol as well as CNG variant. The petrol variant starts at Rs 4.63 lakh while the CNG variant costs Rs 5.94 lakh.

An 1196cc engine is offered in standard petrol as well as CNG variant. The petrol variant offers 72.41 bhp power, 98Nm torque and a mileage of 16.11 kmpl. Similarly, the CNG variant offers 61.68 bhp power, 85Nm torque and a mileage of 20.88 kmpl.
