Mahindra XUV400 electric SUV confirmed to launch in September 2022

Mahindra is set to launch its first long-range EV ‘XUV400 electric’ in September 2022. This electric SUV will rival the Tata Nexon EV Max which is the one of the best selling electric cars in India. The new Electric vehicle from Mahindra is expected to have a range of 300 kms region.

Mahindra XUV400 Electric Launch

The Mahindra XUV400 electric is based on the XUV300 currently on sale in India. That means the all-electric XUV 300 SUV will be called the XUV400 electric. It is derived from SsangYong Tivoli and will be revealed in September 2022.

Mr. Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director – Auto & Farm Sectors, Mahindra & Mahindra made the announcement when British International Investment announced it will invest up to Rs 1,925 crore in Mahindra’s new subsidiary ‘EV Co’ that will primarily develop electric four-wheeler vehicles.

The Mahindra XUV400 electric will be company’s first long-range EV and will compete against the Tata Nexon EV and Nexon EV Max.

According to reports, the XUV400 electric will measure around 4.2-metres long and thus, will not sit under the sub-4-metre mark like the XUV300.

The upcoming XUV400 electric will have a design from the XUV300. The changes in the EV may include a closed-off grille, redesigned headlamps, and bespoke alloys. The SUV could receive redesigned LED tail lamps exclusive to the electric SUV.

The XUV400 electric is expected to be have a starting price of around Rs 15 lakh and it will be rival against the likes of Tata Nexon EV Max, MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona Electric. Meanwhile, Mahindra will also be revealing three electric concepts on August 15 under its Born range of EVs that will be based on a dedicated EV platform.
