India Kawasaki Motor has sent waves of excitement through the biking community with a teaser on its social media platforms, suggesting the imminent launch of a new motorcycle at the highly anticipated 2023 India Bike Week (IBW). While specific details remain under wraps, the teaser hints at the potential comeback of the Eliminator, a model that has garnered a dedicated fan base since its global debut earlier this year.

The Eliminator holds a special place in the history of Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Kawasaki in India. Originally introduced in 1985 through the Bajaj-Kawasaki partnership, the Eliminator boasted various engine configurations, ranging from 125 cc to 900 cc. Over the years, it evolved and eventually led to the creation of the Bajaj Avenger 180 with the DTS-I engine. The 2023 Kawasaki Eliminator 450 marks a nostalgic return, reinvigorating the model’s legacy.

Sporting a sleek all-black aesthetic, the cruiser showcases a distinctive design with features such as a round LED headlamp, voluminous fuel tank, low-set split seats, and an exposed frame. The relaxed riding position is facilitated by forward-set footpegs and a wide handlebar. Notably, the blacked-out finish extends to the engine casing, chassis, and alloy wheels, while the headlamps cowl adds a contrasting touch with its body-coloured finish.

Under the hood, the Kawasaki Eliminator 450 is powered by a robust 451 cc parallel-twin cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, churning out 44.7 bhp at 9000 rpm and 42.6 Nm of peak torque at 6000 rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. The motorcycle features 18-inch front and 16-inch rear wheels, supported by 41 mm telescopic front forks and twin shock absorbers at the rear. Safety is a priority with a 310 mm front and a 240 mm rear disc brake setup, coupled with dual-channel ABS. The cruiser’s kerb weight stands at 176 kg.

In the UK, the model is known as the ‘Eliminator 500.’ The nomenclature for the Indian market is yet to be confirmed. The anticipated ex-showroom price is around Rs 5.5 lakh, positioning it between the Ninja 400 and Z650 in Kawasaki’s product range. It is expected to face competition from the Keeway V302C V-Twin in the parallel-twin segment.
