Cyclone Titli wreaks havoc in Gopalpur & Berhampur

Berhampur: Cyclone Titli wreaked havoc in Gopalpur and Berhampur area ahead of its landfall in Odisha toay.

Many trees and utility poles were uprooted during the landfall process of Cyclone Titli. Besides, asbestos of many houses were also seen blown away by the menacing winds.

Road communication between Berhampur and Kanamunda has been disrupted as trees have been uprooted and fallen on the road at many places. However, ODRAF teams are on the spot to clear the route.

As per the latest bulletin of the IMD, currently, centre of eye of the cyclone lies over the land. It crossed north Andhra Pradesh and South Odisha cost (near Palasa, Srikakulam district) to the Southwest of Gopalpur as a very severe cyclonic storm with estimated maximum sustained surface wind speed of 140-150 kmph gusting to 165 kmph between 04.30 and 05.30 hours IST today.

The landfall process will continue for the next 2-3 hours as wall cloud in the rear sector of the cyclone is yet to enter completely into the land, add the IMD bulletin.

Further it said that Gopalpur reported 102 kmp and Kalingapatnam reported 56 kmp surface wind speed by 05.30 hrs IST today.
